Defence Secretary Philip Hammond MP visits Drumgrange Ltd

Secretary of State for Defence, Rt. Hon. Philip Hammond MP visited local defence company Drumgrange, in his constituency of Runnymede and Weybridge on 27^th April to see first-hand the innovative solutions the company provide to the MoD.

During his visit, Mr Hammond was briefed on a number of strategically significant projects that Drumgrange is involved in and saw the work being undertaken by the company; designing, building and supporting sonar, communications and tactical systems for use by the British Armed Forces.

Following his visit to the company, Mr Hammond said:

"I keep hearing how difficult it is for small and medium-sized companies to sell their products and services to the MoD, so I came here as Defence Secretary to see how a family-owned business in my own constituency has done it.

Drumgrange is a successful business based on a skilled and dedicated workforce, supplying cutting-edge technical solutions to British's Armed Forces. The Company sells 85% of its output to the MoD.

I am delighted to have had an opportunity to hear about what Drumgrange does and how it has achieved that success - and to see an example, close to home, of how hundreds of small British companies are helping to protect our national security".

"We were extremely pleased to be able to host the Secretary of State today and for the opportunity to discuss with him the wide variety of strategic projects we provide to the MoD. This year we have had a number of contract winds on projects for the UK Ministry of Defence, fought hard against Prime Contractors many times our size. The new contracts contribute to the on-going success of the business and will provide job secretary for our staff".

The visit was arranged through Defence Matters, the Defence Industries Council's campaigns to promote the impact the thousands of small and medium sized companies, working in the UK defence industry, have on local economics up and down the country.
