Drumgrange receives Gold Award from the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme

Drumgrange has been awarded the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award, almost 10 years since MD George Howe initially signed the Armed Forces Covenant.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation ensuring that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces are treated fairly. In particular, the gold award acknowledges employers that go above and beyond their Covenant pledges.

From our Directors:

‘Drumgrange is honoured to receive the Gold Award and appreciates the recognition. We pride ourselves on supporting UK Defence and value the contribution service personnel make to our security.’

At Drumgrange, we demonstrate our commitment to honouring the Covenant by:

·                     Working alongside Careers Transition Partnership to recruit service leavers and reach out to servicemembers looking to transition to a civilian career.

·                     Supporting Armed Forces charities, including running and participating in fundraisers for the Royal British Legion and SSAFA.

·                     Offer two weeks of additional paid leave to Reservists looking to attend their annual training, as outlined in our dedicated Reserves policy

·                     Run work experience programmes for service members looking to assess whether a role at Drumgrange would be ideal for them.

·                     Attend veteran and reservist events to actively engage with and maintain key contacts within the Armed Forces Community.

·                     Offer flexible working arrangements, providing additional support to military spouses and families.

·                     Commemorate Armed Forces Month, Remembrance Day, and anniversaries such as D-Day Landing and VE Day.

·                     Advocate for our suppliers and partners to sign the Armed Forces Covenant.

Drumgrange fully recognises the potential that veterans have and values the unique perspective they bring to the business; at the time of writing, ex-Forces employees comprise 15% of our workforce, including 40% of our Senior Management Team.

‘After a 37-year career in the Royal Navy and 8 years in business, I understand what veterans have to offer and value what industry does to help their transition,’ said Director of Delivery Paul Abraham. Business Development Manager and Royal Marine veteran Andrew Fergusson adds, ‘We are a defence supplier and an employer of veterans and therefore it is incumbent on us to support our armed forces.’
